Freckle & Mole Tattoos: Here’s What You Need to Know

Wanna add some cute, natural-looking freckles or moles? I got you!
I work exclusively with PMU (Permanent Makeup) inks, which are designed for delicate and natural results. These inks are perfect for creating freckle tattoos because they give a soft, realistic look that fades gradually over time. According to the ink manufacturer, these tattoos typically last anywhere from 6 months to 3-4 years, depending on your skin and aftercare.

What to Expect: My Process

Getting a freckle or mole tattoo is a two-step process. Here’s how it works:

Session 1: Consultation

During our first meeting, we’ll take our time to discuss your vision for the tattoo.  We’ll use a marker to sketch out where you’d like the freckles or moles, and we’ll look through reference images to make sure we’re aligned on the style and overall feel. I’ll also take a look at your skin to match the ink color and temperature to your natural skin tone and any existing freckles or moles you already have.

Session 2: Tattoo Time

Once we decided about the amout/placement of freckles, we’ll schedule the second session to actually apply the tattoo. You need to take into consideration that when fresh, freckle tattoos look red and swallen. The first few hours are usually the most swollen and irritated, but that’ll start to calm down. You might still see a soft redness around the tattoo for 2-3 days, but don’t worry, it’s part of the healing process.

The best time to get a freckle tattoo is in the fall or winter. You’ll need to stay out of the sun for about 10 days after, so summer is not ideal. If you do get it during the warmer months, just make sure to keep the area protected from the sun during healing.

Aftercare & Touch-Ups

Once your tattoo is healed, I offer a free touch-up session if you need it. You can come back anytime within 6 months to get it freshened up if necessary. folowing 6 months after the tattoo was done

Fun Extras

If you want to have a little fun with it, you can also go for colorful freckles instead of the classic brown ones! And if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, I can add a tiny heart-shaped or star-shaped freckle for a unique twist.

Feel free to reach out if you’ve got any questions or want to book a session!
